Quality
It has been recently identified with residents and Beaufield Gate Directors that the grounds maintenance standards have been gradually eroding since August 2024. Whereas it is appreciated that the last couple of years have experienced record breaking temperatures and very little rain this year in Spring and Summer we need the grounds to be more defined, respecting wildlife such as bumble bees and birds
Actions we plan to take are as follows:
- We will provide a plan to the contracted gardeners which will direct them to address:
- Pathways with overgrown shrubs and plant
- Improve lower ground areas I.e. in front of flats 1, 2, 7, and 9
- Pollard and reduce tree height and branches adjacent to Flat 1, 3 and 6
- Reduce all hedges and plants/trees which we estimate are between 13 ft to 17 ft to around 8 ft -9 ft (this will reduce maintenance effort and cost in the short term)
- Also hedges being overshadowed by other plants will be addressed e.g next to parking bay 8
Issues/Risks
We are investigating additional work outside of general maintenance to drastically cut down/ trim ivy / creeper plants and shrubs that are impacting our neighbours walls, this is predominantly near flats 9-12. There is a concern around some ivy with large roots which may be detrimental to wall stability, but we won’t know until we speak to the ‘experts’
There will be some immediate work proposed to remove ivy/creeper plants parallel to flat 10, such as removing foliage impacting gutters. This Neigbour has reported damp in their home ( you may have noticed tradesman working there, who are applying some damp treatment and other repairs)
We will naturally keep you updated and informed.
Thank you.
